Checking the quality of all types of rope

Ropes are produced with different raw materials. As we explained in the previous articles, ropes fall into two main categories: artificial and natural rope. Synthetic ropes are produced from polymer raw materials such as polyethylene, polypropylene and polyester, and natural ropes are produced from natural and environmentally friendly raw materials such as cotton, wool and silk. These ropes have different types based on the quality rating of the primary material, and in this article we are going to examine the quality of these ropes.

What is natural rope?

Natural ropes are produced from raw materials that exist in the environment, so they are compatible with the environment. These ropes have good qualities due to their primary material, but they may lose their resistance in certain weather conditions such as rains or direct exposure to sunlight. To learn more about the types of natural ropes, you can refer to the article " Introduction of the types of natural ropes and their uses ".

Types of natural rope based on quality

Natural ropes have different qualities depending on the production method. By changing the production and twisting method of the ropes, their quality can be increased. In the following, we will examine each of them.

Manila rope

This rope is produced with plant fibers called abacat. This rope has high durability and good flexibility. The use of manila rope is used in shipping and fishing works due to its resistance to seawater salinity. To strengthen the quality of this rope, tow wire is used as a core.

Hemp rope

This type of rope is made of natural fibers called jute or hemp. Hemp rope is used in the shipping and sailing industry due to its high stability against wear caused by contact with water. In order to improve the quality of this rope, instead of producing it in two layers, they produce it in four layers.

What is synthetic rope?

Ropes that are produced with polymer fibers are known as synthetic ropes.  Plastic rope  is produced with polymer raw materials such as polyethylene and polypropylene in different grades. Now what does this mean? Polymer raw materials are available in different qualities. We will examine each of them below. Also, for more information, you can refer to the article " Introduction of artificial ropes ".

First class rope

The main source of polymer raw materials are petrochemicals, which provides raw materials such as polyethylene and polypropylene, generally in powder form and with the best quality. These raw materials are known as new materials or first-class materials. The ropes produced with these first-class rope raw materials are known to have high quality and at the same time have a high price due to the high cost of raw materials.

Second grade rope

Secondary raw materials are polymer materials that are produced from recycling and are generally supplied in the form of granules. These materials can be obtained from different manufacturers, which again have different qualities according to the materials used for recycling. But in general, recycled granules are known as secondary raw materials. The ropes produced from these raw materials are called second grade ropes. These ropes have an acceptable quality and are offered at a reasonable price.

One and a half grade rope

Maybe you have never heard of first and a half grade raw materials. First- and half-grade raw materials are a combination of first-grade and second-grade raw materials, which are produced and supplied with precise proportions and under the supervision of the laboratory and quality control. The ropes produced from these raw materials are known as first and a half grade ropes. These ropes are marketed with high quality and reasonable price.

final word

According to the contents mentioned in this article, we know that with changes in the raw materials for the production of ropes, their quality can be manipulated to meet our needs. Ropes are widely used products in today's industries and have a significant impact on the comfort of work. Of course, on the condition that you choose the rope you need correctly to avoid financial and life losses. We hope the article was useful for you.
